In the RS of A for a few weeks - but don't go away!

Just a quick note - I will be away for a few weeks attending some conferences in Cape Town. If this page is too quiet - scream hard enough and I will update while on the road. Bless you all for always caring!! DO NOT MISS my next article on a girl called Daisy from Godalming, England. She is 5 years old and raised nearly £300 for orphans in Mozambique. Not only did she change the lives of some orphans but she influenced her community and her school.
Watch this space ..... meanwhile .... I am on the road!

MORE blankets for MORE orphans!

Ok our orphans officialy grew to 404 over Northern Mozambique. It makes one scared if you think about it ..... so many to care for. The church actually comes to life with these projects as they help us to provide love, care and everything else a kid needs who have just lost his parents due to aids, malaria or other tropical diseases. Without the church and all our widows looking after these special kids it would be impossible to reach out to so many. May God bless them all. Here we are handing out blankets that Rhenish knitted to more orphans.

These kids waited anxiously for us to arrive - they just heard that girls in Cape Town prepared a gift for them. Everyone was there - the widows, the pastors - even the Orphan Board of the church.

And did those kids cling on to those blankets. They did'nt want to leave them. I so wish that every girl that knitted these blankets could hand them out to every kid - it makes you want to cry with joy. Here in the bush people still actually show so much appreciation when they recieve a gift.

350 scarce and precious Bibles delivered!

After many miracles, lots of prayers and the good hearts of so many good people we were fortunate to deliver and hand out 350 scarce Bibles to our leaders in many parts of the country - specially the northern parts of Mozambique where you will not often find many missionaries or helpers.
Literally a truck full of Shona and Portuguese Bibles being loaded by pastors and leaders from Northern Mozambique. Needless to say the joyous mood on the truck was contagious. Some of these leaders have been waiting for more than a year to receive some of these Bibles. Church members unfortunately will not have the privilege to own their own Bibles seeing that these Bibles are only marked for leaders within the church. Bible text memorization is the only way some church members can get hold of the Word - which is maybe not that bad of an idea.

Many of these Bibles came as far as London, England and from Stellenbosch, South Africa. Even a rural community in Robertson, Western Cape, contributed so that we could purchase more Bibles. A special word of thanks to the following superstars who made it possible for us to help churches in Northern Mozambique:

  • Dr. Tielman Marais (Stellenbosch, South Africa)
  • David Phillips (Godalming, England)
  • Robertson church group (Robertson, South Africa)
  • Niel & Helane Keyser (Louis Trichard, South Africa)

Without these people it would be impossible to have even dream about this project. God has used you all in a very unique way. Thank you for sharing the Good News to those who are crying to hear it. May you all be blessed in ways that will leave you astonished. Blessings!!

If we say big snake - we mean Texas BIG!

AFRICAN ROCK PYTHON - that's what they call this snake. Russel send me over some photos so I could remember our adventures deep in the bush. We killed this snake (yip it is dead!) after it ate 2 lambs. It just couldn't get away and off course we wanted to protect the sheep. This was a big "mama" and it wasn't nice killing it either and we usually do not kill anything in the bush unless it causes problems in our living areas. If I recall correctly this snake was close to 5 m.
